Orkney beat Lossie 36-5 in scrappy cup tie

On a dull, overcast, and blustery afternoon Orkney played host to RAF Lossiemouth in the second round of the Scottish Hydro Regional Bowl Competition.
Despite the chill, a healthy crowd of spectators watched as Orkney ran out eventual winners 36-5, with tries from John Dearness, Willie Thomson, Phil Ross, John Tait, Marcus Guthrie, and Davy Leonard.
The score, however, did not do Lossie justice as they competed well for large parts of what was a scrappy game.
Orkney's forwards did the hard work up front, turning over Lossie ball on several occasions from set piece, and making good yards with tight driving play.
In the backs, inaccurate passing often resulted in the break down of play, and there was a tendency for the line to drift across the field in attack.
Having said this, it was a game Orkney won comfortably in the end, keeping up their unbeaten run this season. Full match report in next week's paper.
